Location
Happy Harbour ECP is located inside Bay Harbour United Methodist Church at the intersection of Deke Slayton Highway (FM 518 East) and South Shore Boulevard in League City, Texas.

Environment and Curriculum

The administrators and teachers of Happy Harbour share a common commitment to provide a safe, secure, and nurturing early childhood education program that fosters each child's independence, curiosity, and development of age-appropriate skills. Our daily program consists of the following elements:

Busy, noisy, happy, creative classrooms where play is valued as a primary vehicle for learning and advancement in all areas of development.
Comfortable children, relaxed and involved in a variety of activities.
Encouragement of the spiritual development of love for God and love for one another.
Daily schedules that provide a balance of individual/group activities, active/quiet play, large/small muscle exercises, and indoor/outdoor learning experiences.
Self-initiated and staff-initiated "hands on" learning experiences that allow children to learn by doing.
Age-appropriate classroom learning centers; i.e., art, science/discovery, blocks, dramatic play, table games, math, writing, book corner, sensory table, etc. that give children opportunities to enhance skills, make choices, solve problems, and experiment with autonomy while interacting with teachers and peers.
"Circle Times" or "Together Times" planned each day for participation in group activities such as listening to stories, singing songs, or sharing ideas while building vocabulary, hearing proper language, and developing concepts.
Care given to maintain good health, sound nutrition, and cleanliness practices.

Program Hours

Preschool hours are Monday - Friday from 9:30AM to 1:30PM. The school office is open daily from 9:00AM to 2:00PM on all Clear Creek ISD school days. Operational Structure

Happy Harbour Early Childhood Program is a non-profit organization operated by the Happy Harbour Board of Directors. The Board of Directors has final authority over all aspects of the program, unless a decision directly affects Bay Harbour United Methodist Church (BHUMC). The Board of Directors can be reached at boardofdirectors@happyharbourecp.org. Happy Harbour is a ministry of BHUMC, and as such, spiritual growth is a key component of the goals for all children and staff. Christian beliefs will be expressed to the children, as well as the importance of faith and trust in God. Chapel will be held weekly, and education in the classrooms will include prayer recital before meals, bible verses, and Christian songs.

Happy Harbour is licensed by the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS), and follows the Minimum Standard Rules developed by DFPS. Happy Harbour ensures the program is operated according to these high standards with the use of annual inspections, continually updated record-keeping, and monitored safety practices.
